What "inspected" actually means
Every used truck clears this checklist before we list it. No exceptions.
- ✓ Mast chains measured — replaced if stretched beyond spec
- ✓ Hydraulics pressure-tested — zero leaks tolerated
- ✓ Battery load-tested (electric) or compression-tested (IC)
- ✓ Brakes, steering, and tires inspected & serviced
- ✓ All fluids changed, filters replaced
- ✓ Hour meter verified against service records

A new 5,000 lb sit-down rider runs $30,000+. The same truck at 4,000 hours — barely broken in for a forklift — sells for $16,000–$19,000 and has another 6,000+ hours of life in it. For most warehouses, that's the smartest money in material handling.
What to watch out for (anywhere you buy)
- High hours, no records — over 8,000 hours without service history is a gamble.
- Mast play — excessive side-to-side movement means worn rollers.
- Battery age — replacements cost $4,000–$8,000; ask for a load test.
- No warranty at all — even 30 days shows the seller stands behind the truck.
